01 / Diagnose what needs fixing
The Signal Scan
A diagnosis of what you’re already publishing. I go through your content, your numbers and your category, then tell you what’s working, what isn’t, the likely reason for each, and the order to fix things in.
The difference
What changes afterwards
- You know what’s working, what isn’t, and the likely reason for each
- You have a ranked list of changes with the reasoning, so the team knows what to fix first
- Next quarter is planned from evidence rather than gut feel
- If you share rough production costs, you also see which formats are worth the effort they take
Fit
Who this is for
This is for you if
- You’re publishing consistently but the results have plateaued
- You suspect some of what you make is wasted effort, and want to know which part
- You want a senior opinion before committing to a strategy or a hire
- You’re about to spend significantly more on content and want to know the ground first
This isn’t for you if
- You haven’t published much yet, so there’s nothing to review. Start with The Playbook.
- You want someone to produce content rather than assess it.
Scope
Exactly what’s included
- 01Content and channel reviewUp to three channels, looking at your recent body of work on each: what you publish, how it’s packaged, and how it performs against your own average.
- 02Performance analysisWhere you win and lose attention: click-through, retention, the points where people leave, and which formats your audience responds to. Share rough production costs and I’ll weigh results against effort too.
- 03Audience and positioning assessmentWho you’re currently reaching versus who you say you want, and the gap between the two.
- 04Competitor and outlier analysisThe strongest performers in your category and one or two neighbouring ones, the specific pieces that beat their own channel’s average by a wide margin, and what those pieces have in common.
- 05Key opportunitiesThe few changes with the best ratio of effort to likely impact, named and explained.
- 06Prioritised recommendationsAn ordered list. What to change this week, this month, and this quarter, with the reasoning for the order.
- 07Written reportEverything above, written up so you can share it with your team.
- 08Recorded walkthroughI talk you through the findings on video so you get the reasoning, not just the conclusions.
- 09One follow-up question roundSend your questions after you’ve read it. You get written answers, or a short recording where that’s clearer.
Boundaries
What this doesn’t include
- Writing, filming or editing any content
- Implementing the recommendations
- Ongoing advice after the follow-up round
Example
What the work looks like
Retention collapses at 0:07 on 9 of your last 12 shorts.
Every one of them opens on setup rather than payoff.
Your three best performers all did the opposite.
Fix the opening before you touch anything else.
Written to show the format and level of detail, not taken from a client project. For the experience behind it, see About.

Your part
What I need from you
- Analytics access, or exports, for the channels in scope
- A short written brief on what you’re trying to achieve commercially
- Rough production cost or time per format, if you want effort compared against results
- One named person who can answer questions during the review
Questions
Before you buy
How is this different from a free audit or an analytics tool?
A tool tells you what happened. This tells you why it probably happened and what to do about it, which needs judgement rather than a dashboard. You get a specific call on your situation, written down with the reasoning.
What if the answer is that our content is fine?
Then I’ll tell you that, and point you to the one or two things worth refining.
Can this go towards a bigger engagement?
Yes. If you move on to The Playbook within 60 days, the Signal Scan fee comes off the price.
Which channels can you review?
YouTube, short form across TikTok, Reels and Shorts, X, LinkedIn, newsletters and podcasts. Three channels are covered by the fixed price. Name them at intake and I’ll confirm the scope before starting.
How soon can we start?
Send your details and you get the payment link and intake back, usually within a working day. The report lands ten days after the intake is returned.
How buying works
Fixed price, fixed scope
- 01Send your detailsThe short form opposite. Two minutes, in writing.
- 02Payment link and intakeSent back to you, usually within a working day.
- 03Work startsThe timeline starts when the intake comes back.
After payment you get a structured onboarding questionnaire that covers access, goals, context and who to speak to. It tells you exactly what happens next and when.
